Calliper is described as a measuring device with moving parts that come together to determine the dimensions of a part. In their simplest, traditional, form they can be used for both inside and outside measurements.
Calibrating is described as the process of checking a mechanical applicator, such as a fertilizer spreader, to insure that it will accurately deliver the right amount of material to the right amount of area.
