In the industrial and industry context, "damage" refers to any physical or functional harm or destruction to goods, equipment, facilities, or systems. Damage can occur as a result of various factors, such as accidents, malfunctions, wear and tear, or environmental factors.

Dust consists of particles in the atmosphere that come from various sources such as soil dust lifted by weather (an aeolian process), volcanic eruptions, and pollution. Dust in homes, offices, and other human environments contains small amounts of plant pollen, human and animal hairs, textile fibers, paper fibers, minerals from outdoor soil, human skin cells, burnt meteorite particles and many other materials which may be found in the local environment.

An oxide is a chemical compound that contains at least one oxygen atom and one other element in its chemical formula. Metal oxides typically contain an anion of oxygen in the oxidation state of –2 (Example: Carbone Dioxide CO2). Most of the Earth's crust consists of solid oxides, the result of elements being oxidized by the oxygen in air or in water.
