Glycerine a term also known as glycerol which is described as a clear, colorless, viscous, sweet-tasting liquid belonging to the alcohol family of organic compounds.
Having three hydroxyl (OH) groups, its chemical formula is CH2OHCHOHCH2OH. It is a by-product of alcoholic fermentations of sugars. It is hygroscopic, and may be used as an extractant in the dehydration of ethanol.
