Bow-back Windsor refers to a windsor side-chair with a back support consisting of a single, looped bow having both ends mortised into the plank seat. Five to 11 vertical spindles fill in the back rest area. Sometimes called a loop-back windsor.
An English bow-back is similar to an American sack-back. Balloon-back. A bow-back Windsor with the lower portion of the bow pinched in (taking a reverse curve) before entering the seat deck.
