Description Fishing is defined as the use of fishery resources from marine or freshwater environments, with the goal of capturing or gathering fish, crustaceans, molluscs and other marine products (e.g. pearls, sponges, etc).
Section B also includes fish farming and aquaculture activity which produces similar products. It includes activities, which are normally integrated in the process of production for own account (e.g. seeding oysters for pearl production).
Section B does not include building and repairing of boats (35.11) and sport or recreational fishing (92.62). Processing of fish, crustaceans or molluscs are excluded, whether at land based plants or on factory ships (fish industry: 15.20). However, processing taking place on board ships which fish are also classified to Section B.
